Immigration minister Launches Online portal today -2024:Its a new year and a new system. On the auspicious date of Monday, January 8, 2024, the distinguished Interior Minister, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, shall unveil the pioneering Nigerian online application portal for international passports in the revered city of Abuja.

On Friday, the esteemed minister conducted a demonstration of the online portal. Alongside  the esteemed Mrs. Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service.  Notable attendees of this demo session included esteemed key stakeholders and  esteemed development   partners.

However during the session, there was an opportunity to present and carefully evaluate the automated passport application process. Furthermore, constructive feedback welcomed in order to guarantee the enhancement and advancement of the system. The development of an online passport application portal caters to both domestic and international applicants. While providing separate categories for Nigerian citizens and those residing abroad.

New policy on Passport pages

Nigerian candidates yearning for passports boasting a 5-year lifespan, encompassing  a generous 32 pages, shall be obliged to remit a sum of #25,000. Conversely, individuals who exhibit a preference for passports exhibiting a 10-year longevity,  accompanied by an ample 64 pages, shall be required  to disburse a sum of #70,000.

International realm, those aspiring for passports retaining a validity of five years, encompassing thirty-two pages, shall remit a sum of $130. Whereas those with a penchant for passports  enduring  a decade, spanning sixty-four pages, shall be accountable for a fee of $230.

Prominent figures gracing the demonstration session of the virtual passport application encompass the  esteemed Chairperson of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission. (NiDCOM). The honorable Abike Dabiri-Erewa;  the representative hailing from the esteemed International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Stephen Matete. And the dexterous Country Manager at Development Alternatives Incorporated. The esteemed Dr. Joe Abah, visionary Founder of the renowned Kwandala Foundation.  Joins forces with the illustrious Tijjani Mohammad Musa,  a name synonymous with excellence. And the ingenious Co-founder of Technext, the brilliant David Afolayan.
