Indo-Canadian alleged with Hindu temple break-in, A person of Indo-Canadian descent has been apprehended and accused of involvement in a series of  burglaries targeting Hindu temples. The Canadian authorities have apprehended a 41-year-old individual of Indian descent for his involvement in a series of thefts targeting Hindu temples across the province of Ontario in recent times, as confirmed by law enforcement officials.

“Jagdish Pandher of Brampton faces charges of multiple crimes and is held for a bail hearing”. Durham Regional Police said Thursday. Throughout the year, the intrepid investigators have successfully established a compelling connection between Pandher and a spate of break-ins that have plagued Hindu temples.

Predominantly in the  esteemed vicinity of Durham Region and the sprawling expanse of the Greater Toronto Area.

According to law enforcement officials, in the early hours of October 8th, at around 12:45 am. Diligent officers swiftly reacted to distress calls regarding an ongoing intrusion at a sacred Hindu temple nestled  in the serene vicinity of Bayly Street and Krosno Boulevard in the enchanting town of Pickering.

An individual of the masculine gender observed on the vigilant security surveillance. Discreetly infiltrating the sacred premises and discreetly acquiring a substantial sum of monetary offerings from the benevolent donation boxes. As stated in the report.

It is worth mentioning that this person promptly departed from the vicinity prior to the prompt arrival  of law enforcement. Later that morning, captured on the vigilant surveillance footage , engaging in further instances of trespassing and burglary. This time targeting the sacred Hindu temples nestled in the serene locales of Pickering and Ajax.

Not a hate crime

Durham Regional Police said: “Although these crimes took place in a place of worship. They do not appear to be hate crimes or motivated by hate.

” During the months of September and October, a distressing number of Hindu temples, including renowned establishments such as the Chintpurni Temple in Brampton, the Rameshwar Mandir in Caledon, and the Hindu Heritage Centre in Mississauga, fell victim to brazen acts of robbery within the Greater Toronto Area.

As per the accounts of esteemed local media sources, an unfortunate series of events transpired last year. Wherein nearly half a dozen sacred Hindu temples in the esteemed Greater Toronto Area  fell victim to theft and desecration within a mere ten-day period.

In 2022, the Peel police in Toronto apprehended three Punjabi individuals residing in Canada.  Found to be the perpetrators behind the regrettable acts of vandalism and theft committed  within Hindu temples located in the Greater Toronto Area between November 2021 and March 2022.

Pandher, along with Gursharnjeet Dhindsa and Parminder Gill from Brampton are among the trio implicated in the case. According to media reports, an extensive array of charges, totaling a staggering 78, were levied against them.  These charges encompassed offenses such as Disguise with intent. Which were repeated an astounding 13 times. As well as the grave offense of Break, enter and commit an indictable offense, also repeated 13 times.
